Riot Hit Gujarat - An unsaid election issue

The Best Bakery Case Ruling has reopened the issue of politicsvs religion.

Everyone seems to be shying away from the question. Everyone is saying the Godhra will not be an election issue. Everyone telling the other not to politicise the issue but the fact is that during the general elections 2004 and the assembly elections 2003, it has been the single most important issue in Gujarat politics. The riot victims, the best bakery case, asetback to the industries are issues that cannot be shied away from. Any political party that comes into power has to face these upfront. Fact is they are already cashing in on the issues. These are the issues to be thought over by the people of Gujarat and the whole nation before India goes to vote. The big question is when will this religion -politics tie end. Today it is a regional issue, tomorrow the whole nation may be facing this. The BJP as well as the Congress have been in this fix before. The issue needs expert sensitive handling.

It is for people of Gujarat to give the mandate.
