BJP Lured Tribal in Jharkhand Manifesto

The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) stresses over issues like banning cow slaughter and setting up a Sanskrit university in its manifesto released on Thursday. BJP vision in Jharkhand is emphatic to promote Hindutva.

The ruling BJP's 36-page manifesto for the February polls promises to bring an effective law to ban religious conversions, cow slaughter, the beautification of religious places and the setting up of a Sanskrit university in the state.

Its next beam is tribal development. In an effort to lure the poor, the manifesto promises rice at Rs.3 per kg, wheat at Rs.2 per kg and salt at 25 paise per kg to families living below the poverty line (BPL).

Besides, it talks of allocating 60 percent of the total budgetary provision for the development of the rural part of the state. It promises to give agriculture industry status, launch a credit scheme for farmers, increase the minimum support price and set up an agro zone, among other things.

The document, released in the presence of Chief Minister Arjun Munda, also addresses issues like tourism, education, the health sector and bringing Maoists into mainstream. Specifics like a smart card scheme for driving licences and providing electricity to every village are mentioned as well.

For the minorities, the BJP plans to set up a Jharkhand Madrassa Board and create an environment of communal harmony.
