Shivraj Singh Chouhan takes charge as MP Chief Minister

On Dec 13th, 2008, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assumed the charge of his office for the second time, after performing puja at his chamber in secretariat in Bhopal. While handing over a copy of party's manifesto to chief secretary Rakesh Sahani, Mr Chouhan said that the party's manifesto is like “GEETA” for the state Govt.

Mr Chouhan said, “A three-tier-system will be in place to fulfill the promises made to the electorate by the BJP." He added that the BJP Govt. will work on improving education, infrastructure, women empowerment, better health facilities, industrialization, turning agriculture into a profitable business, good governance, enhancing business investments and check on the crime rate. He also promised to resolve water scarcity problem in some parts of the state.

The Chief Minister added, "We will take steps to overcome insufficient coal supply to the state's thermal power stations, affecting MP's electricity generation capacity."

Portfolio of misinsters in Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chohan announces the new porfolios to his 14 cabinet and eight state ministers. All these ministers, including four with independent charges, took oath on 22nd December as members of Madhya Pradesh Cabinet.

Chouhan kept General Administration with himself, while Narmada Valley Development, Aviation and other departments are not assigned to any minister.
