Hooda seeks to curb lawlessness in Haryana

March 07, 2005

Curbing lawlessness to ensure that Haryana does not go the way of Bihar is on the top priority of the new Congress dispensation in the state.

Eradication of corruption, efficient and responsive administration, implementation of employment-generating schemes also figure strongly on the list of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Hooda said Haryana was turning into Bihar as far as law and order was concerned and made it clear that peace was necessary for progress.

The statement came at Hooda's maiden meeting with the state's administrative secretaries today.

Hooda sought the whole-hearted cooperation of the officers assuring them his cooperation in return.

He told the officers that they could express their views without fear so that he could have full faith in their efficiency, integrity and dedication to the people of Haryana.

Hooda told the secretaries that the status paper of each department be submitted to him within a week along with a future vision for the state.

He said implementation reports of various projects should be submitted fortnightly.

Hooda took oath as Chief Minister on Saturday replacing Om Prakash Chautala whose party was drubbed in the February 23 elections.
