NDA delegates to soon meet Kalam over Jharkhand issue
March 07, 2005
Lashing out at Congress-led UPA
government at the Centre for political developments in Goa, Jharkhand
and Bihar, BJP today said NDA leaders would again meet President A P J
Abdul Kalam soon over Jharkhand issue.
"Congress does not have a good intention and is imposing an
undeclared emergency in the country and the (political) developments in
Goa, Jharkhand and Bihar are its best example," BJP national
general secretary B S Ananthkumar told reporters here.
Demanding that confidence motion be taken up by the newly installed
Shibu Soren government in Jharkhand within 24-hours, he said the
President had summoned the Governor and asked for advancing the
confidence motion. "But he (the Governor) has convened a five-day
session from March 10, fixing first two days for oath, after which two
days would be fixed for the Governor's address and then only the
confidence motion would be taken up", Ananthkumar said.
"Jharkhand Governor should be recalled immediately as the vote of
confidence had not yet been taken up there. How will the government
formulate policies and the Governor address the House?" he asked.
Since, all these are against the established parliamentary norms, NDA
leaders would meet the President tomorrow or day after on the Jharkhand
issue, he added.
Earlier NDA had paraded its 41 MLAs from Jharkhand before Kalam, to
prove its majority in the assembly. "Also the Goa Assembly has been
kept on suspended animation, leaving scope for horse trading. The House
should be dissolved immediately and fresh elections held," he
added.
