LJP seeks recognition as state party

Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) on
Wednesday urged the Election Commission to give it recognition as a
state party on the basis of its performance in the recently concluded
Assembly elections in Bihar.
In a letter to the EC, party President and Union Minister Ram Vilas
Paswan said LJP has four MPs and 30 MLAs in Bihar besides one legislator
each in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, a party release
said.
Paswan said LJP had secured more than the requisite percentage of the
total valid votes polled in the Assembly elections in Bihar.
He also urged the EC to reserve the 'bungalow' election symbol for it.
LJP National Secretary Daud Ahmad said the EC promised to look into the
matter.
