Sonia to announce new Haryana CM

Congress President Sonia Gandhi could name the new chief minister of Haryana today after the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) left the decision to her yesterday.

Power Minister P M Sayeed and party General Secretary Ashok Gehlot, the two observers sent to Chandigarh to oversee the election of the CLP leader, are expected to submit their report to Gandhi today.

Former Haryana chief minister and PCC chief Bhajan Lal is among the frontrunners for the post, having the support of at least 30 MLAs.

Union minister Kumari Selja and PCC working president Randeep Singh Surjewala are also reportedly among the contenders.
