Yashwant Sinha

Yashwant Sinha was born on November 6th, 1937 in Patna, Bihar and educated in the same city. He received his Masters Degree in Political Science in 1958. Subsequently, he taught Political Science in the Patna University from 1958 to 1960. Mr. Sinha joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1960 through a competitive examination and spent over 24 years holding important posts during his service tenure. Mr. Sinha resigned from the Indian Administrative Service in 1984 and joined active politics as a member of the Janata Party.

Yashwant Sinha's Politcal career:

» 1986 appointed All-India General Secretary of the party
» 1988 was elected Member of the Rajya Sabha.
» 1989 he was appointed General Secretary of the Janata Dal when the party was fomed.
» 1990-1991 Minister of Finance in Mr. Chandra Shekhar's Cabinet.
» 1996 He became the National Spokesperson of the BJP .
» 1998 He was appointed Finance Minister of India in March.

He represents Hazaribagh Constituency in Bihar, in the Lok Sabha in the 14th Lok Sabha Elections.
